How to Develop and Plan a Content Strategy for Your Business

Social media is a powerful tool for businesses to engage audiences and land new customers.

When it comes down to being productive on any social media platform, whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest; the key to hitting strong notes is planning your content - not just for the month - but for the year ahead.

Mapping out content not only strategically allows you to deliver messages that are on trend or aligned with your company's calendar, but it encourages thoughtful engagement and regular posting, which leads to more eyes, likes, and leads (a.k.a, $$$$).

Our mission is to help you and your company reach its highest heights. We're true believers in the power of social media and its assistance in reaching success. Here are our tips to produce and develop scheduled, on-trend content for 2019.

Create your persona.

Yes, your business has a VOICE. So use it! Imagine your ideal customer. How do they look? What interests them? Get down to the nitty-gritty details and create precisely who your target customer is, what they are interested in, how they talk to friends, etc. Use that information to form your captions, create photo and video content, links, products and more.

Plan.

Now, it's time to develop a game plan for the year. What topics do you want to touch on every month? What business developments do you have in the works? Be sure to include relevant events, holidays, and remember to cover popular topics, while at the same time, diversifying your content. Establish a posting schedule.

How often do you plan on posting per social platform? Once a day? Four times a week? Twice daily? Use this number to establish how often you plan on posting monthly, tally it up, and get ready to create a content planner.

Organize.

To visualize how your posts will appear back-to-back, create a master content planner. We recommend using a month-long template to plan, without planning too far ahead. Events, news, etc. may pop up, and you want to prepare for it. As always, when creating content, we recommend using hi-resolution photos and videos, along with quality captions.

Time to get your planning on, Y'all.
